This week, in an effort to combat SARS, China's "Communist Party Central Committee's Spiritual Civilization Office gave its imprimatur to the war against spit, issuing a 'Directive on Launching Activities to Transform Vile Habits.'" [article in the New York Times]

In other words, spit bags. "The bags read: 'Spitting on the ground is dangerous to your health and spit contains infectious diseases. But with one small bag in your hands your health will always be invincible.'" Not bad.

Oh, there's an interesting article in the New York Times about dealing with change in the kilogram standard.
Nobody will see this for a while, seeing as it's set up on a server that madhava.com won't point to for about a week or so. This is part of the big switch from Blogger to Movable Type, which, so far, seems like it will be worth it once I get use to the way things work.
